Thanksgiving Weekend Parades Celebrate the Joy of the Season

The parade is a yearly tradition in Pittsburgh, going strong for 35 years and counting.  The event boasts all of those beloved parade staples: colorful decorated floats, big balloons, marching bands, and lots of waving, but there are extras for those who come out to watch along the streets.

WPXI Holiday ParadeCelebrity appearances have become standard. Last year saw visitors such as Joanne Rogers (wife of the late Fred Rogers) and Patrick Warburton (perhaps best known for his role as “Puddy” on Seinfeld).  Athletes also tend to show up, such as members of the Harlem Globetrotters, and musical performances liven up the streets with wonderful sounds.

Thanksgiving weekend parades are a great chance to get out with the family and do something different. There’s something for every age.

This year is sure to be just as good as last year, if not better. We would love for you to stay with us at Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square while you’re enjoying holiday parades in Pittsburgh as well as all of the other great aspects of the city.
