Pittsburgh is getting decked out for the holidays. All kinds of events are happening throughout November and December to make the season bright.
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens Winter Light Garden and Flower Show
The elegant gardens at Phipps Conservatory will be transformed for the holidays at their Winter Light Garden and Flower Show.
Winter flowers and topiaries will come to life among a colorful array of LED lights and a myriad winter and holiday scenes. Walk through a tunnel of lights fashioned like the night sky, see topiary penguins, reindeer, and bears, lavishly decorated fir trees, and a lot more.
Peoples Gas Holiday Market - Do your holiday shopping in a festive atmosphere at the PG Holiday Market. Wooden ski chalets will be overflowing with gifts to purchase in an experience inspired by European Christmas villages, or “Christkindlmarkts.” The market opens for the season on November 18 at 11 a.m. and will last through December 23.
MassMutual Pittsburgh Ice Rink at PPG Place - Head to the Plaza between 3rd and 4th Avenues to see it transformed into the Ice Rink. Bigger and better since being updated for 2015-2016, the rink can now accommodate 40 percent more skaters.
The rink will open on November 18 and will stay open for the season until February 26.
KidsPlay - Saturdays and Sundays starting November 19, KidsPlay will start up in downtown Pittsburgh. Activities will include story time, short family-friendly movies, holiday arts and crafts, and penny arcade crafts. This event is free!
Horse Drawn Carriage Rides - Climb on a horse drawn carriage or “Holly Trolley” for a free ride to events happening all around downtown Pittsburgh for the holidays. Rides will run Saturdays and Sundays between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. as well as 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
