The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Football Championships are held at Heinz Field. It all starts with season kick-off games.

NFL and University Games

Of course, Heinz Field also plays host to one of the biggest NFL teams.

Pittsburgh’s preseason play lasts through the end of August.  After that, the regular season kicks off at home on Sunday, September 17th against Minnesota.

The field is also the home of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. They’ll play their first game on Saturday, September 2nd against Youngstown.

On Friday, head to the Karaoke Party featuring Supernatural convention staples, The Karaoke Kings.

29th Annual Gatorade Steelers 5K RaceThe Gatorade/Steelers 5K is an annual "Race, Fitness Walk and Kid's Kickoff Run" happening at Heinz Field on September 4. Proceeds from this exciting Labor Day event benefit the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund.

As far as 5K races in Pittsburgh, this is a fun event with awards for each age category and goodies for all participants.

What Is the Scholarship Fund?

In memory of the late founder of the Steelers, this scholarship was founded in order to provide assistance each year to two Perry High School students. Since its beginning, 80 students in Pittsburgh have benefitted from this great opportunity.

Kids’ Kickoff Run

The Kids’ Kickoff Run is where young runners can get in on the action. Give kids a taste of what a 5K race is all about and get them excited about exercise!

Awards and Goodies

Every single race participant will get a fun Nike t-shirt and a goody bag. Plus, there will be awards for the top racers in multiple age categories, including 11 and under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, and more.

There will even be awards for runners in their 70s and participants who are 80+. This is truly an all-ages race, so bring the entire family.
